CityPrayer

CityPrayer is a call to the Christian church in Southampton to come together and pray for our city. Based upon the conviction of 2 Chronicles 7:14 that, “…if God’s people who are called by his name will humble themselves and pray and turn from their wicked ways, then God will hear from heaven and heal their land.”  No one would question the fact that our land needs healing and we believe that this age old promise is still effective for today.

We recognise that there are various forums of prayer gatherings taking place across the city and that in our churches there are many who earnestly and regularly pray for our city.

CityPrayer is about drawing those people together for special times of corporate prayer believing that we can do more together than we can do on our own.

CityPrayer believes that ‘The prayer of a person living right with God is something powerful to be reckoned with.’  Therefore when God’s people in a city come together for that city something powerful takes place.

CityPrayer believes that  ‘Through the blessing of the upright a city is exalted.”  We want to see our city prosper and for God’s blessing to be over Southampton.

Since the Monday night Healing Breakthrough evenings have been going on, we have decided to cancel the City Prayer events that were planned for 1st July and 30th September. Although Southampton Christian Netowrk are not organising these Monday night meetings, we recognise that God is doing something significant and we don't want to be creating too many meetingss in a week for Christians to come to that will prevent us from being the message as we engage with our communities. We recognise how key prayer is, and will reassess in September how we take City Prayer meetings forward in the light of what God is doing.
